Odoo Alternatives for Indian Manufacturers (2026)

Odoo is a capable ERP, but many Indian manufacturers outgrow the partner-led project, the per-user licence or the manual procurement around it. We compare six realistic options on GST compliance, cost and manufacturing depth, and say when to stay on Odoo.

If you searched for Odoo alternatives, you have probably hit one of two situations. Either a demo looked great and the real project looks different: a partner-led build, a licence that grows with every user, and GST compliance you have to wire up yourself. Or you already run Odoo, and your buyer is still chasing vendors by phone and WhatsApp.

This guide compares six realistic options for Indian manufacturers in 2026 on GST compliance, cost and manufacturing depth. It also says when you should stay on Odoo, because for many plants that is the right answer, and what to ask any vendor before you sign.

Why Indian manufacturers look past Odoo

Odoo is a strong product, and its own manufacturing page lists bills of materials, a master production schedule, a shop floor dashboard, quality checks, lot and serial traceability, and finite-capacity scheduling with a Gantt view. The reasons to look elsewhere are rarely missing features. They are usually about the shape of the project:

  • A licence that grows with headcount. The paid Enterprise plans are priced per user per month, and Odoo lists Studio, multi-company and external API access only on its Custom plan.
  • A project led by partners. Odoo's site points buyers to partners and implementation services, and Odoo.sh hosting is billed on top of the plan price.
  • A new major version every year. Odoo 20 arrived in September 2026, and under Odoo's support policy each release gets three years of standard support before extended support costs extra. Customised builds carry the upgrade work.
  • India compliance you configure yourself. GST, e-invoicing, e-way bills and returns are separate modules, and Odoo's India documentation calls for a GSTIN, a GSP connection and API credentials from the NIC portals.
  • A plan that still needs a buyer. Odoo lists Agentic AI in its Custom plan. Ask to see it raise an RFQ, compare quotes and chase a late vendor on your own data.

What Odoo costs in India

Odoo publishes India prices on its pricing page. On annual billing, the Standard plan is Rs 725 per user per month and Custom is Rs 1,350, with an introductory discount of about 20% for the first 12 months (Rs 580 and Rs 1,080). Monthly billing costs more, and "light users" are Rs 195.

These are the figures shown on Odoo's India page in October 2026, so check it before you budget. They are a low licence cost per user, and lower than Likwid's own Cloud plan. The real number comes from everything around the licence: Odoo.sh or your own hosting, implementation, custom development and upgrades.

Odoo's Community edition is open source, so you can run it without the subscription if you host and maintain it yourself. Odoo's editions page describes Community as the core that Enterprise is built on, and says you can switch between the two.

The 6 Odoo alternatives worth shortlisting

"Alternative" means different things here. ERPNext is the nearest equivalent, SAP Business One and Business Central are the established mid-market names, TallyPrime is the accounting-first route, and Likwid takes a different approach: an ERP with agents that do the procurement work. A sixth option is to keep Odoo and fix the gap around it.

1. ERPNext: the nearest equivalent

ERPNext, from Frappe, is the closest like-for-like switch, since it is also an open-source ERP. For India, GST, e-invoicing, e-way bills, TDS and TCS come from its optional India Compliance app, and its manufacturing module covers bills of materials, work orders, job cards, workstations, production planning and quality control.

That is the same ground Odoo covers, so the choice comes down to the implementation partner and who maintains your customisations. Frappe's documentation notes that available features depend on your app and ERPNext versions, so confirm the list for the version you would run.

2. SAP Business One: the established name

SAP positions Business One as ERP for small and midsize companies. SAP's newsroom reports 50 country-specific localisations and more than 850 partners, which matters for local support.

Indian partners describe coverage for GST, e-invoicing and e-way bills, but production depth often comes from add-ons and partner configuration. Ask the partner for a timeline in writing, and for who keeps the GST localisation current when the rules change.

3. Dynamics 365 Business Central: the Microsoft route

Business Central models production with BOMs, routings, work and machine centres and production orders, according to Microsoft's manufacturing documentation. The same page says those features are available only with the Premium experience.

For India, Microsoft Learn documents GST e-invoice generation as a JSON export from posted invoices. In your demo, check whether the invoice is submitted to the Invoice Registration Portal automatically, or whether that step needs a partner extension.

4. TallyPrime: stay with Tally, with manufacturing switched on

Tally's manufacturing page describes multi-level BOMs, and its guide for small manufacturers covers job costing and job work with GST e-way bills. If you are an accounting-first business with a simple production flow, that may be enough.

Tally records what happened. It doesn't run a planning engine or raise purchase orders for you. Read how accounting software for manufacturing businesses differs from an ERP, and our guide to ERP software versus accounting software.

5. Likwid ERP: open source, with agents that do the buying

Likwid is our own platform, so weigh this section accordingly. The core is open source, with Rise (CRM and sales), Flow (inventory and orders) and Spout (production and planning) modules, and the full source is on GitHub. On top of it, AI agents raise RFQs, rank quotes, draft purchase orders and chase vendors over email and voice.

The pricing page has three tiers: Open Source is free and self-hosted. Cloud is ₹2,700 per user per month as a standard product with no customisation, suited to roughly 1 to 15 users. Enterprise starts at ₹49,999 a month for unlimited users on a dedicated instance, plus a one-time implementation from ₹5 lakh.

Be clear about the trade-offs. Per user, Cloud costs more than Odoo's list price, and Odoo has a far larger app ecosystem and partner network. Likwid fits best where the bottleneck is manual procurement and planning across plants, not module breadth.

GST invoices, e-way bills and GSTR-ready exports are built in, per our ERP page. Ask every vendor, us included, to generate an e-invoice with an IRN and an e-way bill on your own data. See our comparison of ERP software for Indian manufacturers and the AI-powered ERP for manufacturing.

6. Keep Odoo and add the missing layer

If Odoo already runs your accounts and stock, a new ERP may be an expensive fix for a narrow problem. Likwid's agents connect to Odoo over its API, so the procurement and planning work happens on top, without migrating your data. The Enterprise plan includes guided integrations with SAP, Odoo and Tally.

Start with AI procurement automation or the wider agentic ERP for manufacturing if that is the gap.

Five questions to ask every vendor

  1. Can you show an e-invoice with an IRN and an e-way bill, generated on my own data?
  2. What is the total first-year cost in writing: licence, hosting, implementation, customisation and upgrades?
  3. Who maintains my customisations when the vendor ships a new version?
  4. Which of my needs, such as batch traceability, job work, multi-level BOMs and several plants, work out of the box and which are custom?
  5. Can I speak to a manufacturer of my size and industry in India?

Put the same questions to your Odoo partner. Sector detail matters too, so check how each vendor handles pharmaceuticals, plastics and packaging, food and beverage, nutraceuticals, auto components and heavy machinery.

When you should stay on Odoo

Stay if your partner is good, your customisations are stable, your GST flows already work and the licence cost is fine. In that case, the gap is probably procurement and planning, not the ERP.

Switching ERP is a big project, so be sure the problem is the system and not the process. Our guide to how to choose a manufacturing ERP covers the full checklist. Odoo alternatives: common questions

What is the best alternative to Odoo for Indian manufacturers?

It depends on what you are fixing. ERPNext is the closest open-source match, SAP Business One and Business Central bring established partner networks, TallyPrime suits accounting-first firms, and Likwid fits plants whose bottleneck is manual procurement and planning.

Is there a free alternative to Odoo?

ERPNext and Likwid's Open Source plan are open source and free to self-host. You still pay for hosting, implementation and the skills to run them.

Does Odoo support GST e-invoicing and e-way bills?

Yes, through separate modules for accounting, e-invoicing, e-way bills and GST returns. The documentation says you need a GSTIN, a GSP set up in Odoo and API credentials from the NIC portals.

Can I keep Odoo and add AI procurement?

Yes. Likwid's agents connect to Odoo over its API and handle RFQs, quotes and vendor follow-ups on top of it, without migrating your data.

Conclusion

Odoo is a capable ERP and often the right one. If it isn't working for you, decide whether the problem is the ERP, the partner or the manual work around it. Shortlist an open-source equivalent, an established partner-led ERP and a layer that does the procurement work, then ask each for an e-invoice, a first-year quote and a reference on your own data.
